Enhancing Patient Dignity and Care in the Field with SafeShel (12/05/2025)
At Acute Ambulance & Medical Services (A.A.M.S), delivering the highest standards of patient care and comfort is at the core of everything we do. We’re proud to share that we’ve recently integrated SafeShel into our emergency response kit—a game-changing innovation that supports our mission to protect privacy and dignity during critical moments.
Why We Chose SafeShel
As a leading provider of professional ambulance and medical services, we’re often called to the scene of serious injuries, particularly during sports events and large-scale gatherings. These incidents can occur in very public environments where ensuring the dignity and privacy of the patient is essential.
We chose to purchase SafeShel because it offers a fast, reliable, and compassionate solution. Designed as a rapidly inflatable emergency shelter, SafeShel creates a secure, enclosed space around the patient, protecting them from both the elements and public view.
Practical and Reliable in the Field
SafeShel’s portability and ease of use make it incredibly practical for our team. Weighing just 5.5kg and inflating in under 15 seconds, the shelter allows us to respond quickly, especially in situations where ambulance arrival may be delayed.
Its durable construction and weatherproof design ensure it performs under pressure, giving both the patient and our medics the confidence and space needed to focus on care.
A Step Forward in Compassionate Response
Whether it’s a pitch-side incident or a public medical emergency, having a SafeShel on hand enhances how we deliver services—upholding the privacy, dignity, and wellbeing of every individual we treat.
We’re proud to be one of the many organisations—alongside Rugby Clubs, GAA clubs, Civil Defence teams, Coast Guards, and Councils—who are now using SafeShel to raise the standard of emergency care.

“England Hockey have worked with AAMS for many years in planning and delivery domestic and international hockey events and have always been extremely satisfied with their performance. The events team are always excellent with their pre-event and on-event communication and their provision of medical plans and risk assessments help us plan our events with great confidence. The onsite team is always punctual, professional and very courteous in working with our staff, volunteers and other client groups on site. The service level provided, especially caring of patients, is exemplary and we now use AAMS for all our England Hockey events, including schools, club competitions and international matches at the FIH Pro League. We would not hesitate to recommend AAMS to other sports organisations.
“Just a belated note to say Thank you to AAMS for your support during our Civil War Weekend. After a rather boring Sunday, it all went off on the Monday with 5 casualties all told if I counted correctly! I thought your team showed a very calm but efficient front in dealing with so much at once and that helped greatly to continue the smooth running of the event.
We will certainly bear you in mind for future events.
Ice Hockey is a fast and physical sport, and safety is our top priority. Having the right support off the ice for the team and spectators is crucial. For matches when we have large crowds, they also supply a trained doctor to ensure you will receive the best care when attending a match should the need arise.
Continuing like last year, AAMS will provide equipment and advice to support our away games for Liam, our team medic trained to FREC 4 by AAMS. AAMS will continue to provide a De-Fib in the rink, for all rink users to access, as well as training and advice.
